FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
NOVEMBER 6, 2007
Supervisor Carroll Parmeter called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Nov. 6, 2007 at the township hall, Ron Shaver, Paul Williams, Pam Altimus and Carroll Parmeter were present. Clerk Sally Hackenberg was absent. There were six visitors.
ADDITIONS
Cemetery signs and Tax Collection under New Business.
AGENDA
Pam made the motion to accept the Agenda with two additions, seconded by Paul, motion carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Paul made the motion to approve the October 1, 2007 minutes, seconded by Ron, motion carried.
COMMENTS
Pam Schwartz on Carlton Rd. asked if we could approve the trailer on her property for hardship situation with her mother. Referred to Planning Commission.
CORRESPONDENCE
Road Commission meeting on November 8, 2007 if anyone would like to attend. Carroll and Paul showed interest in attending.
REPORTS
Assessor-Shalice was not present.
Rural Inspection-Tony stated there was permits issued this month for a new home, a pole barn and a garage. Mrs. Ritsema was informed by the Planning Commission that the Zoning Ordinance does not allow for her plan to split the property in question. Suggested that Mrs. Ritseman would need to provide a deed before splits are approved.
PCB-Reported there was approximately a 30% response to the questionnaire. The committed also requested that information on a Public Information meeting and Public Hearing be added to the newsletter. The meeting will be held on Thursday January 31, 2008. Planning consultant, Bob Toland, will be in attendance to answer any questions.
SEXTON-Bill was not present.
NEW BUSINESS
Cemetery signs in dark blue and white were approved at $75 each. Cemetery signs (five) installed for a total fee of $30. If a post is needed it will be $40 per sign including digging holes for the post. Motion by Paul seconded by Ron, motion carried.
Pam asked the board if there could be a minimum refund amount sent to tax payers. Other townships have approved a minimum to offset cost of stamps, envelopes and etc. Ron made the motion to set minimum to $10, seconded by Paul, motion carried.
Road Commission meeting was covered in Correspondence.
OLD BUSINESS
The FOIA update was tabled until next month.
The Master plan update and questionnaire was covered above under Planning Commission.
Troy Blackburn from the LFP Fire Department was in attendance. He offered insight for the response time procedures and answered questions about the proposed new fire hall. The contract for LFP was tabled until next month.
EXPENDITURES
Paul made the motion to approve expenditures 2760 through 2786, seconded by Pam, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
Paul made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Ron, motion carried with the meeting adjourning at 8:05 p.m.
