Flowerfield Township Meeting Minutes

 FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
June 1, 2009

Supervisor Carroll Parmeter called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Teresa Ives, Carroll Parmeter, Jim Griffith and Ron Shaver attended the meeting. Pam Altimus was not present. There were six visitors present.

Board Member Additions
Jim Griffith requested that we add Eric Shaffer from Waste Management who will be coming tonight to speak about dump passes. We will add him when he arrives.

AGENDA

Approval of Agenda for June 1, 2009- Jim Griffith made the motion to accept the agenda as read, seconded by Teresa Ives, motion carried.

Board Member Comments
Jim Griffith ask if the board would consider putting a dry hydrant at Howardsville Christian School. No action was taken on this.

MINUTES

Approval of Minutes from May 4, 2009-Jim Griffith made the motion to accept the Minutes, seconded by Carroll Parmeter, motion carried.

SPECIAL GUESTS/PUBLIC COMMENTS

Eric Shaffer from Waste Management came to speak about dump passes. They offer the township a 50% discount.

CORRESPONDENCE
Teresa Ives read a letter from the Marcellus Ambulance Service, the letter stated that they are attempting to get an EMT Basic class put together at the station. She also read a letter from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of MI, that they would be doing door-to-door missionary work for the months of June, July & August 2009.

Carroll Parmeter read a letter that he received from our attorney’s office, regarding the FEMA Flood Plan.

REPORTS
Assessor: Shalice Northrop was not present.

Rural Inspection: Tony Vaickus was not present.

Planning Commission: Greg Hamelink, PCB Chairman was present and provided the following update.

• He stated that Bob Toland recommended that the PCB speak with Tony Vaickus, Zoning Administrator.

• Will need to pay Bob Toland’s retainer fee for the month of June 2009.

Sexton: Bill Kruger was present, and he reported that the incident on Day Road, has been taken care of. He was able to set the headstones back up. He asked what the township thought of installing a summer use faucet at Howardsville Cemetery.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Marcellus Fire Department- Send letter requesting a new contract be written up.

Cemetery Ordinance & Software- Teresa Ives and Bill Kruger are still working on this. Looking into purchasing Pontem Cemetery Software.

Zoning Board of Appeals- Vacancy of two seats

NEW BUSINESS

Approve the Cemetery Ordinance Committee:
Bill Kruger, Teresa Ives, Pam Altimus, Paul Williams and Patrick Brown
Carroll Parmeter made the motion to accept the Cemetery Ordinance Committee as listed, seconded by Teresa Ives, motion carried. Teresa Ives will chair this committee.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Paul Williams wanted the board to know that the Flowerfield Bridge will be closed for about one month for repair.

APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES

Carroll Parmeter made the motion to approve payment of expenditures 3302 thru 3324, seconded, by Ron Shaver, motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Ron Shaver to adjourn, seconded by Jim Griffith, motion carried with the meeting adjourning at 8:15 p.m.
