Flowerfield Township Meeting Minutes

 FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
April 7, 2008

The meeting was called to order by Carroll Parmeter at 7:00 p.m.  Pam Altimus, Sally Hackenberg, Paul Williams, Ron Shaver and Carroll Parmeter were all present, there were nine visitors present. 

COMMENTS
The Clerk Sally Hackenberg announced that she is not running another term,  this year will be twelve years as township clerk.  If anyone is interested please let her know.  Township officer petitions have to be in to the township clerk by May 13.

MINUTES
Pam made the motion to approve the March 3rd minutes, seconded by Sally, motion carried.

SPECIAL GUESTS
Dan Riggs who is running for Sheriff was present and gave us a short presentation about himself.  He was discharged from the Marines in 1975 with a Honorable discharge.  One of his goals is to be a working Sheriff with an open door.

CORRESPONDENCE
The Clerk received a Masterplan Update from the County. 

REPORTS
Shalice was present and asked the board about putting her office in the back room of the township hall, all boards members agreed.

Rural Inspections-Tony was present and gave a short report to the board.

PCB-All members were present, Greg Hamelink is the new Chairman.  They will try to draft a section of the Masterplan Update each month.

Sexton-Bill was asked to take down the tree at Lower Flatbush Cemetery.

NEW BUSINESS
Township Attorney-Sally made the motion to appoint Ken Sparks as the township attorney, seconded by Pam, roll call vote; Pam-yes, Sally-yes, Carroll-yes, Paul-yes, Ron-yes.

Township Auditor- Sally made the motion to have Siegfried & Crandall be Township Auditors, seconded by Pam, with a roll call vote; Ron-yes, Paul-yes, Carroll-yes, Sally-yes, Pam-yes.

Mileage Rate- Sally made the motion to set the mileage rate at .50 cents, Pam seconded, motion carried.

BOARD OF APPEALS – Sally made the motion to reappoint Paul Willliams to the Zoning Board of Appeals, seconded by Carroll, motion carried.

Sally made the motion to appoint Pam Altimus as alternate to the Zoning Board of Appeals, seconded by Paul, motion carried.

Motion was made by Sally to chloride township gravel roads through the county road commission to accept their proposal, seconded by Paul, roll call vote; Sally-yes, Pam-yes, Paul-yes, Ron-yes and Carroll-yes.

EXPENDITURES
Ron made the motion to approve expenditures 2902 thru 2923, seconded by Paul, motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Sally to adjourn, seconded by Pam, motion carried with the meeting adjourning at 8:10 p.m.
