FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
February 5, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Carroll Parmeter at 7:01 p.m. Paul Williams, Ron Shaver, Pam Altimus and Carroll Parmeter was present. Sally Hackenberg was absent. There were six visitors.
AGENDA
Ron made the motion to approve the agenda with the Zoning Board of Appeals appointments tabled until the March meeting, seconded by Paul, motion carried.
COMMENTS
Carroll reported that there is an interest in a St. Joseph Co. Ambulance Regional Authority. Jamie Hutson has spoken with Carroll on possible avenues of funding for this project.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ron made the motion to approve the January 2 minutes, seconded by Paul, motion carried.
SPECIAL GUESTS
Chad Hackenberg has in attendance representing the Marcellus Fire Department. He reported the department has a 27-person roster and a full-time EMT from 8-4. There were questions for Chad concerning the response time and the fees charged the township in comparison to emergency service from other facilities. He stated he would attempt to get answers to these questions and report them to us.
CORRESPONDENCE
The Treasurer read a letter in reference to BOR training offered on February 14, 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the ISD.
REPORTS
Assessor-Shalice was not present.
Rural Inspection-Tony stated he had issued three permits and that Nextel was seeking approval to attach to a tower in the township.
Planning Commission-Bob Toland attended the combined Planning/Board meeting on January 25 to discuss the Master Plan Land Use/Rocky River Watershed Grant. He discussed three major steps in Land Use planning and suggested that five major area of concern be brought to the next combined meeting. He also stated the public information gathering is of the utmost importance. Dan Stanaway will speak at the Chamber of Commerce meeting held at A Place In Time, February 9, 7:30 p.m. in reference to the Rocky River Watershed Grant. Another meeting will be held on February 26, 7:00 p.m. at the Howardsville Christian School.
Sexton-Bill was not in attendance.
OLD BUSINESS
Municipal Ordinance update-Doug gave an update on the Schwartz property located on 11672 Cranberry Lake Rd., and the progress after the recent fire. He also reported on the court issued restitution from the Bainbridge hearing.
NEW BUSINESS
A Budget Meeting date was set for February 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Flowerfield Township Hall.
APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES
Paul made the motion to approve and pay expenditures 2517-2531, seconded by Pam, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
Carroll made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Pam, motion carried with the meeting adjourning at 8:04 p.m.
